Katie Cruz Chapas is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Spanish and Philosophy, from Cabrini College. She later received her Master of Arts in Counseling from New Jersey City University, where she also obtained her School Counseling certification.

Mrs. Cruz Chapas has over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, loss and grief, and trauma-related symptoms across a variety of settings. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has also completed an EMDR Child Specialist Intensive Certificate Program.

In addition, Mrs. Cruz Chapas is skilled in conducting psychosocial evaluations for youth who have disclosed experiences of abuse and/or neglect. She also has experience conducting evaluations for families navigating complex and challenging circumstances.

Mrs. Cruz Chapas provides empathetic, culturally responsive, and evidence-based mental health services tailored to each child’s unique needs to help them grow and thrive. She is committed to collaborating closely with parents to support their child’s emotional well-being and overall development.

Outside of her clinical work, Mrs. Cruz Chapas enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, bird watching, and visiting gardens throughout the country.
