Dr. Mary Ellen DiCataldo is a certified school psychologist with over 28 years of experience as a school psychologist and school-based mental health clinician in both traditional and non-traditional school settings.

Dr. DiCataldo began her career as a school psychologist (Level II) in Baltimore City Public Schools, where she conducted psychological evaluations, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and behavior management as part of a multidisciplinary team serving students within a full-inclusion model. She also assisted in developing BCPS’s Diagnostic Assessment Center (DAC) and Transitional Education Model Program (TEMP); two city-wide programs that served students experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties.  

Dr. DiCataldo then joined the staff at the Astor Home for Children in the Bronx, New York.  As a primary clinician, she designed comprehensive treatment plans and coordinated interdisciplinary care involving psychiatric, psychological, educational, and family treatment. Her work included developing a school-wide token economy and receiving specialized training in non-violent crisis intervention. Dr. DiCataldo has consistently demonstrated her ability to provide high-quality clinical services focusing on supporting at-risk youth and fostering positive outcomes through comprehensive and compassionate care.

In addition to providing therapy at Caring Cove, Dr. DiCataldo is currently a school psychologist in the Morris School District in Morristown, New Jersey, where she has provided services to students in various roles for over two decades.  Dr. DiCataldo has been a member of the Child Study Team, working with students both in and out of district from preschool through age 21. Her work encompasses psychological assessments, case management, and therapeutic interventions for students. Dr. DiCataldo has also served as a school counselor and has developed expertise in individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and behavior management. She has supported students with emotional and behavioral concerns, provided consultation to teachers and staff, and developed behavior intervention plans. Dr. DiCataldo has also conducted risk assessments and managed cases involving students with complex mental health needs, ensuring appropriate support and intervention.  

Dr. DiCataldo earned her Doctor of Psychology degree from Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology in January 2006.  She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in School Psychology and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Towson University, where she was honored as the Outstanding Graduate Student. Dr. DiCataldo began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mansfield University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  

Dr. DiCataldo enjoys spending time with her family, walking with her dog, and reading mystery novels in her free time.
